Hybrid cars need regular servicing just like conventional cars — but with a few important differences. Here’s what you need to know to keep your Toyota or Lexus hybrid running at its best.
Every 6 Months or 10,000km
At minimum, your hybrid needs an oil and filter change every 6 months or 10,000km — whichever comes first. Hybrid engines run intermittently, but the oil still degrades from moisture and combustion byproducts.
Annual Major Service
Once a year, your hybrid needs a full inspection covering: brakes (including regenerative braking system), suspension, tyres, hybrid battery cooling fan, inverter coolant, and transmission fluid.
Hybrid-Specific Items
Unlike conventional cars, hybrids have additional systems that need attention: the battery cooling fan should be cleaned annually, the inverter coolant needs replacement every 4 years, and the hybrid system wiring should be inspected for damage from rodents or vibration.
Battery Health Check
